Week 71 - Malaysia - A Rock in the Storm‏

Nov. 29, 2011

This week some of our first investigators were baptized :) It was so cool to see then make these steps in their lives, but they also began to feel the storms that come with life. The night of their baptism, their Grandmother was admitted to the hospital and the only one who could attend the baptism was their aunt. As Maria was preparing herself to be baptized, you could see the concern and stress in her face, but when I pulled her up out of the water, the face that came out was calm as could be. She later went on to tell me that she didn't even feel the water around her, but it was a sudden rush of lightness and brightness.
They also began to encounter some of their first anti-Mormon activity. Now this kind is not quite like it is the the states. It's not coming from information sources, but just random people who will tell them that their church is lost, that those white devils are snatching souls. As we were talking about the great apostacy, and about all of the people who have been talking to them and "laughing at the Book of Mormon" we read 2 Nephi 28:3-4 and I pointed out how people deny Christ when they would tell her that "The Church of Jesus Christ is a lost church." The realization that came to their face was shocking, but they were so grateful that they found the True Church of Jesus Christ. They had found safety upon the Rock of our Redeemer :) It was amazing. These people are so humble and so great. Love these people :)
I love you all and hope you enjoy this Holiday Season.
